Ashtakavarga System Of Prediction By B V Raman, Pdf
i shall start with a brief explanation of astrology. as a planet in the horoscope, planet lagna in the 1st, 2nd or 6th houses indicates the career of a person. but the planet lagna out of the house indicates the state of that person, whether it be exalted, sullen or in a good or bad sign. the qualification is that the person has to be alive at the time of the planetary zodiac. and all the planets up to saturn are in the zodiac and the sun to mercury (in the 1st house), the moon (in the 2nd house) and the mercury and venus in the 6th house. in each planet lagna there is a house (8th, 9th, 10th) where he has to place the planet. for the purpose of the system of prediction, the planet lagna is also very important but for the determination of lucky/unlucky period, and aisles, the planet house, especially the house lord, is also very important. the planet lagna in the 5th house, where both mars and mercury will be, will indicate the general well-being of a person. the mother of the person has a bearing on his behaviour as the 6th house rules the mother. if the person is an asura, the 7th house, rahu, and the 9th house, the moon, will indicate to what extent the mother will affect his life. if he is a bish or siddha, the 4th house and the 8th house will govern his birth in respect to mother. if he is a brahmana, the 3rd house and the 7th house will give the answer. and if he is a nag, the 11th house and the 12th house will govern his birth. he is born in the ort or lower mandala and a birth above the ort or first position indicates an important position in life.
we have to know the birth horoscope first. a birth horoscope is given in the kalpa-mantra of the name of the person to be born and the time of birth. a birth horoscope is also known as a nayana (or chart) as it is the nayana of birth of the planet lagna. the birth horoscope also tells us which house the planet is in. for example, if the planet is in the 10th house, it is in its sign (9th house) and that is what one learns from the birth chart. these are the two basic charts, i.e. the nayana and the birth chart. in the nayana, lagna is the only planet which is in the 9th house. it does not mean that the 9th house is significant. the significance will depend on the position of the planet lagna or the lagna house or house lord. if we say, that the 9th house is under the influence of the 10th planet, then, the significance of the 9th house will depend on the 10th house position.
from the beginning, dr. raman had noted that the most frequent outcome of planetary conjunctions was that the result would be either good or bad depending on the planets involved and on the other planets, but that most of the times the planets were in the zodiacal sign that would give the bad result. dr. raman discovered that the planets not only give results of a predictable nature, they also indicate the nature of the results and the person who has suffered the bad effects is required to correct or change his way of life. this is the only way he knew of, to improve his position in life and his fortune. raman was a brilliant man and he used his own intuition and experience to give this advice. he was the first to make the horoscope of a human being the basis of astrology. he was the first to apply the law of the planets to the life of a human being and to develop the horoscope as a tool to be used in the decision-making process.
dr. ramans theory of astrology was a complete, total rejection of the old system of hindu astrology which was based on birth-charts. in his opinion, the only valid foundation for the astrological science of a human being was the horoscope which he had developed.
ashtakavarga system of prediction by bv raman:“make this life a great school for you.” this was one of the last words of sri bv raman, the astrologer, on january 8, 1995, to his younger son, dr. b v raman. though he was not one for public speaking, he was in no mood to hide his feelings that day. the old astrologer had lived a long and full life. his passion for his profession was unabated. “what was the use of making money and fame when we could do no more than this?” he had asked many times in his life. in his later years, he had become a bit introspective. he had spent over half of his life in a quest to find answers to the questions about our life and its meaning. the quest had led him to ideas, philosophies and systems of vedic and hindu astrology. he had been a unique figure in the field of astrology in the 20th century. in the 1980s, he had re-introduced vedic astrology, the oldest system of astrology, to the world through his “nyaya system of vedic astrology”. this was an amalgam of vedic and nyaya astrology. it was the first time that the ancient system of astrology based on the ancient science of nyaya was presented to the world. it brought about an explosive response from the scientific community. the same system of astrology had inspired the young dr. b v raman to take up the study of astrology in 1960s. in the late 1980s, he had also introduced the “ashtakavarga system of vedic astrology” to the world. this system was a synthesis of vedic, nyaya and western astrological systems. it had an immense impact on the advancement of the field of astrology. in this article, we will discuss the basic principles of the “ashtakavarga system of vedic astrology”. but first, let us look at the life of sri bv raman.
